Sunday 4th August – Start at 12 noon
DO COME AND JOIN US
THE PUB WALK IS OPEN TO EVERYONE.
In the footsteps of Jane and Gilbert –
A gentle pub walk from Chawton to Upper Farringdon
Farnham Humanist’s annual walk will commence outside Jane Austen’s House; we will then explore Chawton before going through the Hampshire countryside to Upper Farringdon.
In Farringdon we will visit the 12th century church where Gilbert White preached before resting at the local hostelry.
The return journey will be via the old Alton Fareham railway. Other features of note will be a red tiled folly and a 3000 year old tree!
We hope you can join us on this relaxing walk around two beautiful villages.
The walk is approximately 5.5 miles, sensible shoes required ( we will be walking across fields in places).
START: 12 noon outside Jane Austen’s House, Winchester Road, Chawton, Hampshire GU34 1SD.
REFRESHMENTS: At a Farringdon Pub around halfway
PARKING: Free parking in the public car park opposite the House, beyond the pub car park.
