Hop Blossom Pub, Long Garden Walk, Farnham, GU9 7HX

Michael Kelly, Emeritus Professor of French, University of Southampton

Michael Kelly is a specialist in the history of ideas, especially in France, and has led several European projects in the area of language and cultures.

He knows that Europe has a long tradition of humanist thought, and he sees that a growing number of people across the continent are adopting broadly humanistic ideas, values and lifestyles.

Professor Kelly will ask how the combination of a rich history and diverse practices can be brought together within a humanist frame of reference.
